Laser skin resurfacing is a revolutionary non surgical option for beautiful, healthier skin. At Fresh Outlook, we provide a broad range of skin resurfacing treatments from microdermabrasion to deeper peels which can produce results equal to that of a face lift. We recommend microdermabrasion for patients wishing to obtain a fresh, healthier look. For patients with deep acne scars or severe wrinkles and skin laxity, we recommend a series of medium peels or a single deep peel. At your initial complimentary consultation we will assess your skin with the help of a computerized complexion analysis and recommend a peel specifically designed for you to produce optimal results for your skin type and needs.

Frequently asked questions

How does laser skin resurfacing and wrinkle reduction work?

The collagen cells in your epidermis are the cells responsible for producing desirable skin texture, smoothness and elasticity. As you age, collagen is degraded causing wrinkles, skin laxity and unsightly spots characteristic of aging. This process is accelerated by sun exposure. The Fotona Er:Yag laser uses heat to stress the collagen cells which accelerates the production of collagen to correct these skin problems.

What will my skin look like after treatment?

The appearance of your skin after a treatment will depend on the depth of the peel you receive. With microdermabrasion, your skin may appear very mildly sunburned. With medium peels, you skin is likely to be pink and have the appearance of a slightly worse sunburn for approximately 2 days. With a deep peel, your skin will appear very red and swollen for about 5 days.

What are possible side effects from treatment?

There are minimal side effects associated with light peels. However, the deeper peels may be uncomfortable and cause the treated areas to turn red, swell and peel much like a very bad sunburn. There is a very slight risk of developing temporary or permanent pigment changes in the skin. This typically resolves over several weeks. There is a small incidence of superficial bacterial infection and reactivation of "cold sores". Prior to the procedure, we will call you in oral antibiotics and an antiviral prescription if you have a history of "cold sores" to prevent this from occurring.

How much down time will I have after a peel?

With microdermabrasion and medium peels, there is minimal to no down time. Any redness can be covered with makeup. With deep peels, there is about 5 days of down time during which we ask you not to wear makeup and to keep aquaphor on your skin. This may seem like a long time, but the results from this peel are dramatic and comparable to that of a face lift.

What is the cost of laser skin resurfacing?

The cost varies depending on the depth of the treatment you receive. However, you can receive a treatment for as little as $145. At your initial complimentary consultation, we will evaluate your skin and recommend a treatment plan that best fits your situation and skin needs.

The Fotona Nd:Yag laser has recently been approved by the FDA as a very effective treatment for acne including cystic acne. Patients should expect approximately eighty to ninety percent reduction of their acne with a single treatment. We have consistently had great success with our lasers in treating acne. We believe it is a safe and more effective alternative to systemic and topical acne agents.

Frequently asked questions

How does laser acne treatment work?

The Fotona Nd:Yag laser works by targeting the blood supply from which bacteria causing acne feed. Acne has increased blood supply. During an acne treatment, energy is drawn into the infected areas and heat is created thereby destroying the bacteria. Whereas traditional acne therapies may have trouble penetrating and reaching the bacteria, the Fotona Nd:Yag laser has a wavelength which specifically targets the blood supply that nourishes the bacteria.

What will my skin look like after treatment?

We use the same laser settings for acne treatment as for hair removal. In most people there is no sign that a treatment has been performed.

How many treatments will I need?

With a single treatment, you should experience eighty to ninety percent reduction in acne. Prescription skin care products should be used in conjunction with laser treatment to alleviate the re-growth of bacteria. Later you may need small area touch ups but no full re-treatments to be effective.

Is laser acne treatment painful?

No, most people experience very little discomfort. We use a zimmer cooler that applies chilled air to the area being treated. This causes the heat produced by the laser to be evaporated as soon as it hits the skin.

What is the cost of laser acne treatment?

The cost of laser acne treatment depends on the area being treated not the severity of the acne. Treatments are very affordable and will be discussed at you initial complimentary consultation.

Fotona Erbium Laser is very effective at certain settings for removal of benign skin lesions. Benefit: No scarring in contrast to traditional removal by cutting. Painless.

Laser treatment for hair removal is a safer, faster and more effective procedure to eliminate unwanted hair than electrolysis, waxing or tweezing. With electrolysis it takes two seconds to remove one hair follicle verses hundreds of follicles per pulse of laser light. In addition, the surrounding skin is unaffected and there is little or no irritation to the skin as with other methods.

Frequently asked questions

How does laser hair removal work?

Our Fotona Nd:Yag laser works by destroying the blood flow at the base of your hair follicle. When this blood flow is gone, the follicle and its active parts will shrivel and die. There are 4 phases in a follicle growth cycle. Only a follicle in an Active Growth phase contains engorged blood flow and will be affected on your treatment day. Since other follicles will enter their growth cycles after the procedure, multiple treatments are required for best results. This is true for all forms of permanent hair removal.

How is Fresh Outlook's laser different?

Our Nd:Yag laser has many safety features. The wavelength of the laser is 1064 nanometers. This makes the target in the hair follicle hemoglobin (blood). The depth of penetration goes to the very deepest follicle and people of all skin colors can be safely treated. Other lasers, with a shorter wavelength, target melanin. We all have melanin in our skin. Treatments with shorter wavelength lasers result in heat absorbed into the skin, often not deep enough to effectively destroy a follicle and have a higher incidence of skin reactions and damage. Our laser also has a computerized scanner. The entire hair growth area is scanned with a minimum of 13 % overlap so that no follicle is missed and chances of side effects are minimized. Most other laser hair removal systems are done by free hand.

What will my skin look like after treatment?

In most people there is no sign that a treatment has been done.

How many treatments will I need?

The average person needs to plan on a minimum of 6 treatments. The number of treatments you need will depend on your number of growth cycles. Usually treatments will be scheduled 4 to 8 weeks apart in order to destroy the most hair follicles possible with each treatment session.

How long will it take for me to lose my hair?

If you stop watering a plant today it will not die the next day. A follicle that loses its blood supply will also take time to shrivel and die. You will lose your hair in 2-3 weeks after treatment.

Can I pluck or wax between treatments?

No. Plucking or waxing pulls the hair out of the follicle and may disrupt the growth cycle. You may trim or shave as much as you wish between treatments.

What are possible side effects from treatment?

Side effects are very rare. Some patients may have a swollen appearance to the follicle for a few minutes after treatment, but this usually resolves before the patient leaves the treatment room.

What is the cost of laser hair removal?

Cost will depend on area covered, not how thick the hair growth is. Package prices can be arranged if more than one body area is to be treated. An accurate assessment of cost will be determined at your free consultation.

Fotona laser is very effective in treating planter warts. Individualized treatments can be discussed at Complimentary Consultation.

Botox is a simple treatment, approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, worry lines on the forehead, and lines around the eyes otherwise known as crow’s feet. Treatment consists of several injections with a tiny needle. Within days there is typically reduction of wrinkles by at least 80% but results may vary.

Frequently asked questions

What causes frown lines?

Lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When powerful muscles between the brows contract, they draw the brows together, causing the skin to fold and furrow. As skin becomes less elastic with age, those furrows result in permanent lines. The same process applies for crow’s feet and worry lines on the forehead.

How does Botox work?

During Botox treatment, a few tiny injections are administered directly into the muscles responsible for creating facial lines. Botox blocks the release of a chemical that causes the muscles to contract thereby relaxing the muscle and reducing these lines. When injected by an experienced clinician, the effects are localized and do not effect your ability to show facial expressions.

What are common side effects of Botox?

The most common side effect is transient redness and/or bruising at injection sites that resolves within minutes to a few days after the procedure. Post procedure headaches are less common but also reported. Even less common is temporary eyelid droop. This can be almost universally prevented by proper injection technique and safe injection practices by the clinician.

Is there anyone that should not receive Botox?

Yes. Botox is not recommended for people with certain rare neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome.

Is Botox safe?

Yes. Botox is a very safe and minimally invasive procedure. Botox has been used therapruitically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries and remains one of the most widely researched medicines in the world.

Is treatment painful?

Discomfort is minimal. Most people require no anesthesia although the area can be numbed with an ice pack or anesthetic cream prior to injection for those who feel the need.

How soon will I see a difference after treatment?

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the treated areas may continue to improve for up to a week. Botox typically lasts 4 months at which time you need to call to schedule another treatment. Otherwise, your wrinkles will gradually return.

At Fresh Outlook we offer several temporary dermal fillers: Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm. You may have heard one or more of these advertised. These fillers belong to a class of fillers known as hyaluronic acid fillers. As you age, your skin changes and reduces the production of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally hydrating substance. Over time, the loss of hyaluronic acid in your skin results in facial wrinkles and folds like those “parentheses” lines around your mouth. The fillers we use at Fresh Outlook replace the hyaluronic acid your skin has lost, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds.

Frequently asked questions

Will I look natural after a treatment with fillers?

The way you look after being injected with fillers depends almost entirely on the skill and technique of the clinician who is performing the treatment. At Fresh Outlook we take our time doing your injections and work closely with you to give you the look you want to achieve. The fillers we use are the best on the market and will not clump or become bumpy. Many of our office staff have had fillers injected. We invite you to look at them to see results and ask them questions.

Many women have unattractive spider or varicose veins of which they are self conscious.

Laser treatment is one of the most effective treatments for vein removal. Laser therapy is non-invasive, unlike sclerotherapy that is painful, invasive, and may cause cramping, irritation and discoloration. Fresh Outlook uses the Fotona Nd:Yag laser which has a wavelength of 1064 nanometers. This wavelength targets hemoglobin or blood. Each vessel is traced with pulses of laser light. As the energy is absorbed by the blood in the vessel, heat is created and the vessel wall is destroyed. The vein will die and the body will clear away the tissue as it would clear away a bruise. Treatments with our Fotona Nd:Yag laser require no anesthetics and no downtime, with very low risk of side effects. People with all skin colors can be safely treated.

Frequently asked questions

How long will it take for my veins to disappear?

Each person's body will have its own time schedule for how quickly veins will be reabsorbed. This could range from days to weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

Patients have different expectations of what they want out of their treatment. Some want their veins completely gone while others just want them to be less noticeable. Many patients will only need one treatment to accomplish their goal. Depending on the severity, others should expect 2 to 3 treatments for clearing. Treatments are usually 6 weeks to 6 months apart.

Will my treated veins come back?

Once a vein is completely dead and reabsorbed, it is gone. However, a person who has already made spider veins may have the tendency to make more in the future. Any newly developing vein can be quickly treated.

What is the cost of laser spider vein removal?

Cost will depend on how many veins you have and the time it takes to treat them. Many patients can be treated in as little as 15 minutes. An assessment of cost will be determined at your free consultation.

What are the possible side effects of treatment?

While side effects are uncommon, the skin over the treated vessel will appear red and swollen for a few hours after treatment. Bruising is the most common side effect. Because the laser generates heat within the vessel, there is a small risk of a water blister. Rarely this may result in a change in skin pigmentation at that site. Hemosiderin staining is a brownish pigment found in hemoglobin. This stain may linger under the skin.

Are there any activity restrictions?

You may continue with normal daily activities, however, we ask that you not take hot baths or exercise for 3 days. Depending on your vessels, we may also apply an ace wrap for 3 days. These minor restrictions help prevent the body from developing new veins and will enhance your treatment results.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Lapex BCS Lipolaser?

The Lapex BCS is a safe non-surgical liposuction. It was designed to specifically address spot fat reductionand body contouring.

What should I expect?

The Lapex BCS Lipolaser provides inch loss without surgery, pain or extensive recovery time. It is administered in relaxing 40-50 minute sessions follow by a 10 minute session of the K1 whole body vibration system. Depending on the area, you should expect to lose at least 2 inches, but the average patient loses approximately 3-7 inches over the course of treatment.

Is the Lapex BC Liplaser permanent?

The Lapex BCS Lipolaser is the most effective when used in conjunction with healthydiet and exercise. Your results are permanent, but just like any other medical procedures, including liposuction, you should not consume more calories than your body needs as the extra calories will be deposited somewhere in the form of fat.

How does the Lapex BCS Lipolaser work?

The wavelength of the laser penetrates into the subcutaneous fat and lyses holes or pores in the adipocytes which causes glycerol and fatty acids to escape into the interstitial space. After your treatment with the laser you will stand on the K1 whole body vibrator which stimulates muscular contraction and moves the glycerol and fatty acids into the lymphatic system. Later these products will be eliminated from the body with your feces.

What is the cost?

This is dependent on the area and number of treatments, but may range anywhere from $300 to $1800.

Who is a candidate?

Certain medical conditions such as uncontrolled HTN and Endocrine disorder are contraindications. At the initial consultation a doctor or Physician Assistant will perform a complete History and Physical exam to determine if you are a candidate. An ideal candidate will work with us to achieve optimal results by consuming a healthy diet and exercising.
